After my first experience with kettle bells last night, I’m adding them to the list of “Evil Things(tm)” But then, most of CrossFit has gone on that list so far. :: grin ::

See ya tonight. I’m wondering if you’re going to have us do a CrossFit Total like HQ has up.

Andy, great workout Wednesday…my first WOD. I think the body has recovered enough for a 2nd WOD. I hope the gym hunt is successful.

Andy,
I currenty attend UNC Charlotte and will be looking for a gym to work out at this summer and my workout partner and I would really like to get involved with CrossFit Charlotte. My partner and I have been doing Crossfit and Gym Jones workouts for the past few months in our school gym. We can’t do some things due to the lack of Rings and other drawbacks. Hope you find a facility and e-mail me to let me know if you can find a spot for us.

Grrr… work day is going way too slow… can’t wait for the WoD. :-D I’d switch to mornings so I didn’t have to wait, but then I’d have nothing to get me through the workday ;-)

Hey guys, I’m going to be moving into the Charlotte area sometime late july for work and I am definitely interested in getting started with some crossfit type training. I’ve done some stuff with sandbags and I’m interested in finding a group to do crossfit with. In addition, are there any good gyms in the area with decent equipment and relatively low monthly fees? I did a search and noticed that there were the usual YMCA’s and Gold’s gyms, but wasn’t sure if there were some other ones that people would recommend (i.e. a gym with several squat racks, plenty of benches, space for deadlifting, etc.) I’ll be sure to check some out when I’m looking for apartments, but I figured you guys might know some good spots. Thanks . I’m really looking forward to moving to Charlotte and hopefully getting involved in crossfit.

#6, Chris:

If you’re interested in something similar to Gold’s gym, you can check out Peak Fitness. They have pretty decent rates. But all you’ll find there is the typical machines, some free weights, cardio equipment, and an aerobic class room or two. I signed up with them before I found CrossFit. I believe they bought out a lot of the gold’s gyms in the area. They probably have 10-12 locations.

Although lately, I pretty much use Peak Fitness for their shower after my morning CrossFit WoDs.

That being said, you’ll be happier with CrossFit Charlotte than any of the standard gyms out there.

What area of town is the current (temporary) crossfit location? I live in the Southend area. I am interested in joining in on some workouts.
Thanks,G

Bryan, thanks for the reply. Basically I’m just looking for a gym with equipment so I can do some basic compound exercises. But if the new crossfit gym has everything I’d need, then I wouldn’t really have the need to go to a commercial gym.
